Learn the skills necessary to pass the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen test! Canine Good Citizen is a 10-skill test that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners. Our Group Class, led by San Diego based trainer Lorie Schock, will be four consecutive Sundays, with the test being scheduled independently at your convenience. Here is what to expect:
Week 1:
- Greeting a friendly stranger
- Sitting politely for pets
- Appearance and grooming
- Bonus- Target
Week 2:
- Out for a walk (Loose leash walking)
- Heeling through a crowd
- Sit/Down on command
- Staying in place
Week 3:
- Come when called from a distance
- Reaction to another dog
- Reaction to distraction
- Bonus – Emergency Stop
Week 4:
- Supervised separation
- “Mock Test”
- Troubleshooting
- Scheduling test dates
Tests will be scheduled one on one at pet owners convenience.
